How Does Medicare Work?
Medicare is a health insurance program administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Medicare is generally available to individuals over the age of 65, under the age of 65 with certain disabilities, or anyone with end-stage renal disease. Medicare is the nation’s largest health insurance program, currently covering over 67 million americans.
While Medicare is administered by the centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Social Security Administration (SSA) is responsible for enrolling most people in Medicare. The Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) is responsible for enrolling railroad retirees in Medicare.
